Went to Strike today fished from 11:00 - 1:00 my wife and I Caught 28 Crappie, 2 Perch, 1 Trout. not bad for two hours, fished the hump with about 10 other boats.
used pink and white jigs. The weather was nice only a gentle breeze. The wife enjoyed whipping me good, with 20 of the 31 fish. The bite was still pretty light-my excuse for her beating me so bad.

how is the water level there? is the boat launch still deep enough to launch?

Strike is ALWAYS at full pool unless they are working on the dam itself. That is a rarity...

Thanks for the report. My wife and I are heading over there Friday, and were planning on trolling for trout, but just might have to visit the "hump" instead. The fun thing about the hump is that it is like bottom fishing in the ocean. Two years ago, we caught crappie, bass, trout, bluegill and perch there. Mike

I hope you do as good as we did. we were anchored in just under 20 ft of water. I marked a couple of good spots in the past with my hand held GPS and it sure helps getting back to them, the groupe of boats today were north of my GPS spot. The old spot was still good.

I was at Strike on the 13th too. Fished from the dam from dark until about 1 AM. Got one nice perch and 5 squawfish.
The perch was about 11" and very fat. I got it jigging with a chartreuse glow tube jig, right after I arrived. If I'd been there a few hours earlier, I probably could have gotten a lot more. Oh well.
While I was jigging, I had my second pole set up with a worm and marshmallow on the bottom. Got a nice hit, but whatever it was busted my 3 pound leader before I could get to the pole. Might have been a trout, or another squawfish.
I don't mind catching squaws since they make such awesome cut bait for catfish and I use the filleted out bodies for crawdad traps. These squaws were huge. Biggest one is around 16", with two more around the 14" mark. Biggest damn squawfish I've ever seen. My fishing buddy and I had planned to make one last catfish trip before it gets too cold, so we're set for bait.
I also had my crawdad trap out, and got a few nice sized dads. Enough to be worth boiling for a meal.
Heard a bunch of splashing and woohooing from down below around 11:00, so I guess someone probably hooked a sturgeon.

Used to catch squaws in Cascade all the time that exceeded 20 inches. They are very fun to catch and put up a great fight. I could see one easily breaking a 3lb leader.
