Decided to do some fishing after work and go up to Lucky Peak. I changed my mind when I saw how low it was, though. It's way down. There's a good stretch of actual river between Spring Shores and the Arrowrock dam.

Since I was already halfway, I figured I'd just go up to Arrowrock. I don't have a truck, just a little car, so I didn't go that far. Just to the first big beach area. There were only two other groups of people and a couple of trucks with empty trailers when I got there.

I was bottom fishing, using power bait dough on one pole, and a corky with a worm on the other. Got a few nibbles while the sun was up, but wasn't able to hook the fish. I was having trouble keeping the dough on the hook, probably because it was so old (estimated year of purchase, 1998) so I switched to a tiny treble hook and it stayed on better

Once it got dark, the trout really turned on, but by that time everyone but me had packed up and left. Had my limit by 10:00. The biggest one was around 15", and the next biggest one was only a little smaller. The others were all between 10" and 12". Released all but two that were bleeders.

They were really nice, fat, healthy rainbows too. They looked like little footballs. It was a blast.

One of those groups of people was my brother and his family from out of town. If there was a white ford ranger with a boat that was my buddy. I haven't talked to them yet to see how they did. We've been fishing that spot pretty hard the last few weeks and been doing really good. Like you said little footballs at about 15". White anise, worm, and shoepeg corn combo has been working for us. Two weeks ago we we're trolling for them and doing good but lately they are cruising the banks. One thing that works for us is not to cast a country mile but just get it out in 5-10ft of water. Maybe I'll see you up there, look for a BFT sticker and come say hi.

Stacy next time you go up that way try to use some crickets and a bobber. Crickets are all over the place there, just grab one and put it on your hook. It works VERY well there.

Didn't see any white Rangers, so maybe they left before I got there. I think it was around 6:30 when I got to the spot.

Didn't see any crickets either, but I wasn't up in the grass, just down on the sandy flat. I'll look for some next time I'm up there.
