Does anyone know what can be used to reduce effects of abrasion on nylon cloth hulls? I'm looking for some kind of spray that would soak the nylon cloth fibers and perhaps make them slippery. I'm not dragging the tube on the ground, but I'm starting to see some wear on the bottom after about 100 uses.
Thanks,

Bad thing about Nylon covers. I would say spread Aqua Seal or some water proof rubber paint like you dip tool handles in, but it will make the cover stiffer. I wouldn't think that nylon stretches, so that might not be an issue.
303 or Armorall would just be a dressing so to speak.

About the only solution besides the liquid rubber stuff, would be to take the covers off and sew a protective layer on the bottom areas. Then I would put a silicone or rubber sealant on the stitching on the inside to minimize wear on the bladder.

I actually use a silicone spray that comes in a aerosol can. I've also tries the stuff u dip your tools in but if you do use make sure you only paint the bottom surface. I tried painting my pontube with it and 3/4 of the material peeled off the circumfrance just leaving the bottom the the tube painted.

Thanks for the ideas, everyone. I thought of silicone spray, but it may not stay on long enough for what I had in mind. Still, it may be worth a try. I don't want to add any weight as these are my pack tubes, so rubber coatings are out. I already have the ODC versions with the PVC bottoms, which are too heavy for packing.
So I'm going to try a wax crayon rubbed on the outside of the fabric, to see if it stays put for at least one trip. That should provide the lubrication to slide over underwater rocks and gravel that seem to be causing the trouble. If crayon doesn't stick, I may soak the fabric in a solvent and rub crayon or wax on while moist to see if that helps.
Anybody done something like that?

I have done seam sealing on tents with 100% silicone caulk diluted in Mineral spirits.
