Anyone out there hear anything about Bass Pro Shop coming to SLC?

I hadn't heard that but if it's true thats great. Would be nice to not have to drive all the way to Cabelas for everything! Thanks for the heads up

I have heard these rumors over the last couple years. I've never seen anything official from Bass Pro Shops though.

I'd love for them to come to Utah. It would force Cabelas to be competitive with pricing if they wanted to keep their business.

Heard they were looking at Ogden area, take out the Cinedome theaters there. But, that is now going to be a big old car lot, so . . . no haven't heard if they were coming out here.

Before the market took a dive they was and did have an option on some ground in Midvale but is now on hold the last I heard...

Sportsman's Warehouse will smoke their prices anyways.

I heard they were looking at the Midvale area as well, but that was awhile ago. Sportsmans may be able to beat their prices, but you have to have the product to be able to sell it[Smile]

Speakin' the truth. SW has decent retail prices usually on stock items but they usually don't have what I'm looking for. It's a good place for last minute things but other than that....BPS was WAY FAR from establishing a site in Utah. Fun to talk about but it was never a reality, just an idea that was thrown out there by PR. I laughed when a member made it fact a couple years ago.

It would be nice if they did come to Utah. I just went to the BPS in Vegas and had a blast!

I would love that. I lived a mile from the "granddaddy of them all" in Springfield, MO. Love that place. Sportsman's is nice, but I also would like more of a selection for any type of fishing. Plus, my kids love it. It would be nice to have one in the area.

You guys don't realize how lucky you are to have real tackle shops to go to. There's nothing like that in So. Utah.
BPS or Cabelas are just o.k. but are they really necessary? You can order everything they have on line. I went to the BPS in Vegas looking for football heads. I was told, "We're not that type of store. Maybe you should try Big 5 or Sports Authority." [crazy][crazy][laugh][laugh][shocked][shocked]

Thanks!

Rumor has it that they own property in the Willard/ Perry area. That is what I have heard from a few people.

Isn't SW broke? I was in Idaho & the sportsmans warehouses were closed/closing. The one in Coeur D'Alene was open but was called Wholesale Sports.

No they are not broke. They did go through a bancruptcy and came out actually very well. They did sell some of their stores to Wholesale Sports before the bancruptcy and they did close some of their less profitable stores. I sell product to them and they are golden right now.

From my understanding SW sold there out of state stores to UFA clear there debt and only held on to there Utah stores.

They have multiple stores in and out of state.
