We hit the water at about 6:00am at the hemm. launch and decided to troll along boulder beach towards Saddle island with no luck. At about 6:45 we decided to head into the wash and see if we could net some shad. There were a bunch of boats throwing nets but not much shad around. Neither of the two parties I talked to had been able to net any and one group was throwing what had to be a 8' net. lolololol

I joined the casting net party and threw around for about 45 minutes with nothin. We looked for some early morning striper action but there was not much surface striper activity around the bay. I did not see a single boil. At about 8:30-9 we decided to pack in the striper hunt and head to the structure for some bass action.

We started killin it for dinks in the first cove we hit just throwing small cranks and topwater poppers. We worked around the north side of las vegas bay and into goverment wash. We probably caught 25 fish between the two of us but no keepers. The two largest fish were smallmouth both in the 12"range. Still a great day with lighter spinning gear. I may try fishing deeper structure this weekend for some larger bass. Where theheck did the stripers go. I mean I know where some of them went. I was marking huge 100-150 fish schools out in open water and I tried jigging on them for a bit but was not succesfull. I think I might take some choves on Saturday and try jigging those on a football head or something. I heard someboday mention that.

Some pics of the juvi fish Smile[fishin]

Thanks for the report nice pics[cool] Ive only been able to get my hands on dinker stripers very close 3-6ft to shore. I would supercast the shad rap out soon as it got 3-6 ft from shore they would hit it. About how shallow were the lmb & smb? And the huge schools on the finder how deep? thanks

There's a size limit? Did not know this, what is minimum size for the lmb & smb?

no size limit for the table Smile

All the bass were caught right near shoreline. I cruised shoreline at about 5-10 yards out and was just basically pitchin to shore. They were almost all caught off sloping rocky shorelines in 3-12' of water. I was switchin up between a rapala dt6 shad color and a top water rico in white.

The large striper schools were basically around the mouth I guess of the whole bay and were suspended in 70' depth of 120' of water. I passed over two large schools and tried jigging them for about a 20 minutes. The wind was blowing us around a bit and so it was annoyingy trying to stay over them. I did not really give it as much work as I could have.
