I cast netted a dozen gizzard shad and headed for the tailwater. I landed 5 fish, with 2 pulling off on me. One I believe was a tank of a smallmouth that kept running me around the boat.<br /><br />Where my morning was most interesting was when I caught a large skipjack on a shad. I had it boatside and decided to be a dummy and try to swing it in the boat. I was pretty mad at myself. Anyway, maybe they would be worth targeting right now, I really need the bait. Wish I brought a few skipjack lures or netted a few more shad.<br /><br />I headed downriver and pulled a channel cat drifting on skipjack, then decided to anchor. I had 2 runners, but they seemed like too small of fish to hook up. I have struggled with the big cat bite lately, I might start fishing above the dam as that's the same drive for me as riverpark.
