Last year I went to Crane creek res and fished it for a few hours. That was in april I think. I didn't do very well that day. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on this lake did anyone else fish it this year? I would like to try it again this comming year and need some info where to start. Ron

I fished it in May but had no success. It is a very hard place to figure out. It seams the water is always a muddy brown no mater the time of year. The only fish I have caught (Crappie) were right by the dam. sorry I can not be more help.

Don't know if you have ever fished Mann Creek Reservoir, but if in that area and given a choice, I would hit Mann Creek instead. Occasionally a crappie bite will turn on at Crane Creek, but it is very unpredictable and I haven't heard anyone doing good on anything else. I fish Mann Creek 2x a year between early April and early May, before the temp gets warm enough to bring out the recreational boaters. Hit the north end just inside the brush lines and along the northwest dropoffs. During that time of year there are usually some nice holdover rainbows in the 14 to 18" range along with a lot of smaller planter action. Some nice bass action occasionally as well, if the temps are warmer. Woolly buggers, mini leeches, Carey's specials, etc., and occasionally just some big ugly bug with a little flash drifted deep along the weeds. It can get a little muddy as well, if fished in the first 24-48 hours after a big rain. Sorry I don't have anymore info on Crane Creek.
