I know its a couple weeks yet but I am chomping at the bit to get on the hard deck! I have never fished Scofield before and was wondering what is the best way to get to Scofield from SLC? Maps show two different ways but I wanted to make sure neither route is closed during the winter etc....
Any help would be appreciated! See ya on the ice!

From SLC the best is up spanish fork canyon to the scofield turn off then 20 or so miles to the lake. I is generally plowed and clear for the miners who work in the area.

I have fished the dam arm of Scofield the first weekend of Dec for the past seven years. The whole reservoir does not cap until mid December. Some brave souls will usually be out on Thanksgiving weekend, but it is typically less than 4". The dam arm fishes good for about the first three weeks then the fishing pressure slows the fishing down for that part of the reservoir. But the fishing on the rest of the reservoir pickes up and stays good until ice off. If you want to catch Rainbows My favorite go to set up there is a glow rat finky #12 tipped with a wax worm tied fourteen inches under a 1/8 oz silver cast master (as a attractor). Don't worry about snowed in roads. Scofield is one of the most accessible reservoirs in the winter. I'm getting pretty dang exited myself! See ya on the hard deck.
