We launched from Callville at about 7 and headed straight toward the narrows to try some new spots I mapped out for us from Google Earth. The weather was just perfect and it seemed more like September than November.

We hit our first spot about 7:30 and I started throwing a topwater for no love. We worked the area for about an hour with nothin. I had one bite on the rico that did'nt stick and so about 9 or so we jumped to the next spot and my brother picked up a short smallie on his first cast. We continued to work that area and picked up a couple small keepers and into the boat they went. Our next spot landed my brother a nice 2lb smallie and also a few small keepers for me.

It was just a beautiful day on the water. We only saw three other boats the whole day until we got back into Callville and headed home about 2:00

We caught 9 smallmouth and one dink striper for the day. All of the smallmouth were in the 1lb range except the nice 2.2 lber my brother caught. We were throwing spooks, rio ricos, rapala cranks and xraps. Not a single LMB today.

Here are a few pics.

Nice report VK.. I was out there as well on Nov. 7, got a wild hair up my a$$ and decided to launch out of callville about 12am with my buddy that night, and headed home about 10am. I got tired as hell bout 2am so I decided to head over to the floatin potty in swallow cove, tied off and passed out for about an hour and a half. I forgot my pole was in the water with a bon chovie on it, and I woke up to a cat on.

nice, I did that a few months ago and drifted through the narrows with some choves all night but I only picked up one striper. It was a nice probably 4lber though.

nice... when I was pullin up to the dock about 10am I saw a white champion unloading next to me, thought it was you, must have been another champ.

Thanks I have caught some dink stripers around dusk with the clown pattern.

We were out of Callville Wednesday afternoon, Nov 4th, before a tournament and only managed 2 small bass -one lmb and one one dink smallie. those were deeper fish - maybe 15 to 20 ft.

yeah, we launched at probably around 7. Theres another white champion I see out there regularly and hes got a grey dodge. Nice dude though.

The largest smallmouth was right off a gentle point within a cove and was maybe 15' dropoffs and he was near the surface or at least came to the surface to hit the xrap as he floated it up and over the point. That same cove had a nice 20' square school of shad getting chased around and we stumbled upon a little frenzy but only picked up two shorts from that episode. That cove was 10-15' as well.

All of the other fish were caught along sheer rock walls in 25-60' of water. The bass were holding in the rock walls from 2-10' down. Most of the strikes were within the first 5-10' from the walls.

I went out of Callville the other day with Sil240. Rough day out there.

I started the day out like a genius. Launched the boat at 6:15am only to find that I couldn't start my outboard. After 20 minutes or so of messing with it, I gave up and decided that we would still fish, just using the trolling motor.

We pulled out of Callville at break-neck speeds and begin fishing the north side of the bay. Sil is tossing a jitterbug and gets a blowup, but the fish misses. I toss an x-rap to the spot and pull in this little guy.

About 2 hours into our day, Sil240 says, 'does that thing have a gas shutoff switch?'

[unimpressed]

So, my motor starts right up as usual, and we continued to fish til noon or so when we were tired of the abuse the fish were putting us through.

We tossed hardbaits all day, mostly cranks, for nothin.

Sil and I were gonna hit Willow this morning, but he blew out his elbow lastnight and we called off the trip. I may get out for some bass fishin' tomorrow. Say hi if you see the red dodge dakota towing the aluminum can.
