for a minute there I thought I was reading a flyfishing post. I guess that just goes to show that it's not just flyfishermen that turn into yuppie elitists. Bait guys certainly get wrapped up in al the gear, method, and preperation antics too!

Something that certainly applies to angling of all kinds: KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid!).

People always want to make things more complicated that what they really are. Whatever makes you happy...

I thought those were already out there and available? They're called "flesh flies". They are pretty common on salmon fisheries, and are used to target rainbows and dollies.

there you go again.......trying to come up with something that has already been done, and then claim it as your own....

Here's some instructions on how to create your new creation: http://flyfishingreporter.com/steelhead-...-flesh-fly

[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I used to tie "flesh flies" when I lived in northern California. I used them on the steelies that followed the spawning chinooks up the west coast rivers. I also tied them for a couple of buddies that fished Alaskan waters. By and large we did better on more traditional patterns...especially glo-bugs. Also did very well on bright "Boss" patterns. personally, I just stick with pink and purple buggers. Not much of a fan of glow bugs, or flesh flies.

Snarkiness. I had to Google it. My vocabulary isn't as good as it should be. I was thoroughly satisfied with the definition compared to your comment ("...[#0000ff]snarkiness ... you take it to a whole new level.[/#0000ff][#0000ff][#000000])

Snarky (from the Urban Dictionary): [/#000000][/#0000ff]A witty mannerism, personality, or behavior that is a combination of sarcasm and cynicism. Usually accepted as a complimentary term. Snark is sometimes mistaken for a snotty or arrogant attitude.

Thanks for the compliment.

I remember when that word "snarky" was originally posted
Then too, it was sent out as an insult, but the definition is quite different ..I guess one or two people liked it so much it became part of his vocabulary[Wink]. Wasn't it Obama that first said it?...LOL[laugh]

I like the Orvis Dork comment. Aren't they one of our sponsors here?

I am still waiting for the definition to why fly fishing is being a dork.
And why pick on a sponsor, wouldn't Simms be more a dork, they cost more.

[#0000ff]There is a lot of difference between clever "snarky" remarks and stupid, poorly-formed comments that are nothing more than personal attacks.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Be sure mind is in gear before engaging keyboard.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]By the way, flyfishing is not dorky...just the dorks who fly fish. And there are plenty. The term "Orvis Dorks" was coined a long time ago, in other areas, to reflect the snooty attitudes of those who take over various waterways with their elitist outlooks and "look-at-me-gear. Sounded good, so I use it when applicable. Never claimed to have invented it.[/#0000ff]

I dont post on here much. I mostly like to read other peoples stories and be happy for their success. One thing i have noticed is that tubedude sure seems to catch alot of fish. Not only that he is always willing to share where he had success and what his methods are. oh and he includes pictures so we know he isnt lying. I really dont see what your problem is with him. He seems like a great guy, and I'm afraid that i cant say the same about you.

You can always tell what kind of person you're dealing with when they have to look up a word in the dictionary and then try to use the "real" definition to show you how stupid you are. We all know what tubedude meant when he used the word snarkiness and i have to say i totally agree with him. You take it to a whole new level.

Oh and by the way i love how you used the urban dictionary, if you're so concerned about being correct maybe you should use websters, which i did by the way and look what i found

I may have missed something here, so if I have, please inform me that I am wrong or out of the loop. Does it realy matter who invented what? For heck sakes man, BF goodrich didnt invent the wheel, but I still trust what they do. Regardless of who did what, when, how is irrelivent to good advice that everybody can learn from. All I have learned from your post is youre bored and wanting to fling mud for some sophisticated forum trolling. I guess I just bit. [fishin] I guess you can call me a yuppie elitist for fine tuning my walleye technics to be the most productive I can be on the water.[Wink]

That's telling him where the bear $hit$.
Hey PBH-take that you snarky Orvis dork.
Tube Dude has forgotten more than you'll ever know. Just ask him. Right apm!

+1 for me you hit the [#280050]deleted [/#280050]right on the head!!! PBH needs to shut his mouth an going fishing instead of hiding behind that computer screen an jacking his jaws like usual !!! Way to much time on his hands obviously or hed be postin up some fishing reports !!!! Always pickin on or at someone on this forum I cant recall a positive reply to a post by him ever anyone else feelin it ???[shocked]

Duz ennybuddy 'sides me figger PBH might be jist a lil jealous?

apm -- I realize you don't post much, so I'll give you another definition, since you're still green. This time I'll use Dictionary.com

Naive: having or showing a lack of experience, judgment, or information; credulous: She's so naive she believes everything she reads.
—Synonyms
1. simple, unaffected, unsuspecting, artless, guileless, candid, open, plain.

You see, me and TubeDud go way back. We have a pretty good history. While I wouldn't call what we have a "friendship", I would say that we have a good understanding of each other. I like to poke fun at him, and he typically takes it in good fashion and runs with it. I believe that he's man enough to not take any of it personal, and he actually has some fun with me in his replies.

Welcome to board. I hope that this thread brings you out of your hiding, and you start to participate in future topics. That's what this site is about, and without participation, there is nothing. So, stop hiding, and start typing.

Fishmaniac -- wow! There's some real mudslinging going on in your own post! As for hiding behind my screen goes, anyone with 300+ posts knows exactly who I am -- my real name, where I live, what I do. So, if you think I'm hiding, you have another thing coming! You can't recall a positive reply to a post, because you're still a rookie in these parts. Like APM, please stick around for a while. You might learn something, and someone else might learn something from you. But please, stop the negativity and mud slinging. It is not appropriate.

mojo --does it crack you up when guys agree with you, even when they completely miss what you said? In the famous words of Jon Miller: "Swing! and a miss..."

to keep this fishing related, and on topic (I'd hate to see this thread split up again!!)

Orvis dorks -- yep, i use the term occasionally. But, i prefer the use of the term "tweeds". For those too embarrassed to look it up, it comes from those uppity fly anglers that prefer to wear tweed coats and hats so that they appear to be "classic" fly anglers from Scottish origins.

It's all about appearance fellers. If you don't look the look, how can you possibly fool the fish? properly prepared bait or not, you gotta look the look. Just ask TubeBabe!! (If I'm jealous of Tubedud about anything, it's because he has a Tubebabe!)

It's been a while since I've posted or been able to read through the posts, I've been working in Texas 12-16 hours/every day since Sept. 20. It's good to see that things haven't changed much, I don't like change. Fly vs. bait, rods vs. poles [Wink], td's 'snarky' comments vs. everybody else's 'snarky' comments. lol, I feel like I'm at home again. I was getting home sick. I just wish I had something 'snarky' to say myself.

What a waste of bandwidth[angelic] Can't BFT just delete this worthless posters account?[Wink]

I hope not...like you all have stated about TD, I have learned allot from PBH.
Just different strokes.

I'm a large mouth bass. You're a calico bass. Enough said.

This thread has been absolutly great. This what i love about BFT. This forum is realitivly harmless compared to some college football ones i frequent. You got some folks with there opinions on here, and thats great, the mods keep it pretty chill. I had one knockdown and drag out early on. It seriously had me fuming. Because my team was so RIGHT and flygoddess and her team were so WRONG[Wink]. Since then i told myself no more gettin involved in frivolus forum arguements that mean nothing in reality. Since then I've noticed this among many trends on here. Let me first state I'm a TD supporter, I saying it again I'm a TD supporter. That should be clear by the end of this post. But dare tease or even worse bash on, the man, and you got SERIOUS forum problems. He's definatly the Godfather of BFT as i can see it. He dosent even have to respond back to you, legions of his faithful followers will decend upon you with great anger and furious vengence. And why wouldnt they? He tells everyone what he catches, what depth, what lure, what color, what time, water temp. Every detail that one would need to have the same sucess that he had. And lets face it the man is sucessful most of the time. I myself hit the man up for info about Utah lake he was more than happy to send an ENTIRE BOOK about the lake. I was blown away. I was curious about jig painting once, again a large PDF file was given. This man TubeDude in my eyes he's the DNA equvilent of Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston, Kevin VanDamme, and Walt Whitman. Walt Whitman cause the way he has with words. The others are obvious.

All kidding aside this site is great the people on it are great. We all got personalities, and i think I'm gonna let mine go a little more from now on. I'm glad we all DON'T get along. It makes for great TV or in this case computer drama. My next move now is to immediatly start a new thread asking all forum members what fellow forum member has helped you out or taught you the most about Utah fishing. You know whos got my vote?....... wait for it...... BASSRODS. Its all about the log book[Wink] just kidding. bassrods is great, but it's TD for BFT President, heck actual President, has to a improvement on what we got now!!!
