Gearing up for the ice.
1. Where will your first outing be?

2. What setup are you looking to use (i.e. tackle/bait/?)

3. I have extra poles and room in the truck for 3, but ice hut is sized for 2 adults, though could sqeeze in a 3rd if weather gets nasty. It would be tight though.

Shoot me a note...

Any place I can watch through the spotting scope as me ol' buddy sneaks out to his secret honey holes. [laugh]

Most likely a spook and chunk or something along that line.

Be hanging out in/near the the Black Box, or the quick flip 3, or the hideout. Most likely the easy,, (the quick flip)..

Oh wait, I wont dance on ice!! My bad!!

Any idea about when Henery's will be frozen?

I don't know for sure , but I would bet it will be safe by Friday . The temp is supposed to -15 for the low and 7 for the high Thursday . I bet there is people already ice fishing it . Curt G. P.S. you could call Wild Rose Ranch they could tell you for sure .

Frozen.

[cool]Hey Ron, when you say "heater buddy" are you talking about one of those little buddy heaters? If so, I want to hear how they do at Huntington, Strawberry, Fish Lake, or other places that are over 8,000 feet high. also, is it one of the newer ones from the past couple of years that has the "low oxygen auto shutoff" switches, or is it one of the older ones that didn't have that. I've heard that the newer ones shutoff every few minutes at higher elevations.

I went with someone about 5 years ago night icefishing at Strawberry and his worked like a champ the whole time, but again, I've heard that the newer ones of the last couple ofyears shutoff too often...

Reason I ask is because I'm thinking seriously at finally buying one for when I have the kiddos with me this year...

Thanks for your thoughts here...

Thanks for the info Ron. How long have you had it for? I'm just wondering if it's one of the older ones that did't have the supposed shutoff problems or if it's one of the newr ones from the last couple of years.

mine is 2 or 3 years old. my buddy has one thats 10 years old.. they both work about the same..

[cool]. Awesome! I think you convinced me to buy one. I'm gonna get one in a couple of weeks.

I have had the problems you stated with the mr. heater I used last winter. I was surprised to see others on this site giving them such great reviews. It is my buddies heater but I'm guessing it is 3-5 years old. I just bought a cheap 30$ heater that you screw on top of the propane bottle, I'm pretty impressed with it so far plus I can lay it on it's side and cook a can of soup.

[cool]. Hmmm.... Thanks for your reply. How often would it shut down on you? Would it light back up? Where did you get your new heater at?
[signature]
The length of time it stayed lit had to do with the setting we used, if we kept it on low it seemed to stay lit ok but if we tried to crank it up and get the tent toasty it would shut off pretty quick, every 10 minutes or so and we would have to re-light it. We only used it when we really needed it, mostly while night fishing pineview or fontenelle, so it really sucked when it shut off. I got the new heater at the Smithfield implement in cache valley.
