Hello,

New here and need some advice.

Have been fly fishing for years, but now have moved back to MI and have many nearby opportunities to fish for walleye, Brown trout, small mouth bass, etc.

I would like to buy a spinning rod and reel set-up, but $$ is sparse, so need to keep it moderate. I'll still fly fish, but want to try local lakes as well with a spinning rig.

I have some birthday gift cards at Cabela's, so would like to buy there.

Are any of their brand reels decent, or what other brand/model reels are good value? Let's say all within a $80 - $100 budget.

Thanks for the help....

I would take a look at the Wavespin reel by Doug Hannon. I have 2 of them and they hold up really well. Great for what you want to use it for. They have a great drag system. I fish for pike alot and these reels get put to the test often and they are holding up well. Cabela's sells these reels so go check them out Smile

Cabela's is in Dundee, quite a drive for most of the state, you may want to call to reserve one before driving down there.

I have an earlier modle of the same reel, it has held up well for me over the last 20 years.
