Hit Huntington with my brothers this morning. The edges were slushy so your shoes get wet but there are two layers of ice once you get away from the edges. Both were about two inches with a layer of slush in between. Might want to check as you go for any soft spots. We did. The fishing was great but the catching sucked. Still better then sitting home.

How much snow around the reservoir and on the ice?

[cool]. Well, at least you had good company. Sorry to hear the catching wasn't up to par. Which part of the lake did you fish? I've always done well about 30 yards out from the dam either in the middle of the dam or over to the other side more and in front of the dam. I've always done so well on that side of the lake, I've never even had to try anywhere else on the lake... I hope you get into them next time.

We walked down from the parking lot by the dam and there wasn't much snow there. However my brother stepped off the boat ramp and sank to his waist. Probably around two feet in most areas though. There was about 4 inches of snow on the ice.

As long as it was only the snow that went up to my waist. I say it was a great turkey day. Still never gone through the ice past my knee, hope it stays that way. Like Richard said, there was 4" of snow on the ice. This was the first year I have fished Hunington with snow on the ice the first trip up. I kind of missed looking through the ice seeing the boulders below and an occasional fish swim by.
