The ice was about 4" thick at Sportsmen's Park near Aberdeen. Of more interest, the main body of American Falls had frozen over except on the far southwest 3 miles or so by the dam. In other words, it had frozen over in areas where the water was up to 20 feet deep. I was surprised since the elevation there is about 4400 feet MSL and there are areas over 40 feet deep near the dam (even at the current level of 46% full).
With the forecast it should retain ice and maybe thicken a hair over the next few days. It was above freezing though today and I do not believe that was forecast.
I did not fish there at the park because I remembered what my depth finder said last time I was in the boat (nine feet) and think it might be too shallow for perch based on previous years. Also, I forgot some of my thin ice safety devices and nobody else was there....
