Had a rough start getting up to the lake but we made it to cisco beach. Got the boat put in and broke something in the pullstart. No big motor! Only the electric. Not safe. So we stayed within a couple hundred yds of the ramp. Started out fishing for whitefish but we were a tad late getting up there so we stepped out and started jigging for trout. First hour or two nothing and then wham my pole dumped. Finally a 20in cutt. We dropped anchor in 80 feet and proceeded to catch 15 cutts and 3 macks. Lost 6 more between us! There were a few others out trying thier luck. I heard one say those guys are jigging right in our way, so i turned and told him hey your trolling right where i wanna jig. I think it kinda startled him that i heard him and shouted back. Come on man i'm sitting in one spot and this lake is 16 friggen miles long 8 miles wide and he wants to complain. Ignorance is bliss!
The wind came back so we decided to try using it to our advantage and drift troll our lil jigs for whites along cisco and what to ya know, 3 outta 4 poles dump and there are only two of us to reel em in. Needless to say one got away. We continued with that tactic and would anchor when we thought we found schools. No magic color for the whites. We ended the day with our limits of trout and whites. For a crappy start we sure ended the day right!

Outside of your Big motor broken , I would say that you guys had a great day on the Big Blue. Any time you can get up to Bear Lake for some fishing it always worth it. I hope your motor problems are minimal. Good job. BTW how were the roads going up to Bear lake? Also what were the ramp conditions?

Thanks for the report Chugg. You definately made the best out of a bad thing.

For those of us who are planning to make the long trip to BL, your post has great info in it.

Nice report Chugg, I was wondering if anyone would get up to Big Blue over the weekend. Was there any size to the macks you caught? Sure don't read many reports of members jigging trout on the East side of the lake but I'm glad to read someone has had success with that method. Were you tipping your jigs with cisco?

No real size to em. But the key to the Macks was a watermelon tube instead of my regular super white. All 3 came on the darker color. All tipped with cisco. I wish i had some sucker. It seems the macks love sucker better. Ramps were clear. Road was pretty good too. The plows in logan canyon do a good job and keep that road fairly clean. Not a bad drive.

Thanks for the detailed info. I haven't used watermelon tubes, sounds like I need to go shopping[Wink].
