Hey there MuskieRich,
The answer is yes-in-deedy. Some questions guys here would ask you is obvious.
1) For fresh or saltwater?
2) Is it for trolling or jigging?
3) What's the rod you're gonna use rated at and probable line test?
Many makers are now making models with the counter built in or as an add-on. You're right on the left-side reel models they aren't exactly all over the place. A lot of the Japanese reels with counters now have computerized digital output! Shimano, Olympic, Diawa, Okuma (Japanese) and Abu Garcia (Swedish) are just a few. Of course you could just by a cheapo attachment to mount on your rod blade. ha ha ha
