Here is a quote from their newsletter for the Dec meeting:

Everyone is welcome, you don't have to be a member.

"The SEIFF December meeting is the perfect event to get rid of some of that early winter “funk” and look ahead as opposed to backwards. This upcoming meeting on Thursday December 9 is purely a social event inviting everyone-members and non-members (kids too, please) alike to enjoy the warmth of each other’s company and watch anyone that wants to-to tie some of their favorite patterns, or just sit watch and listen to many very fine and talented local tiers weave their webs of angling deception in their own special ways.
All that the South East Idaho Fly Fishers offers is open to anyone and free to the public. It is always a pleasure to see both old and new faces alike. Please come join us? The meeting /social /open tying-is Thursday December 9 at The Portneuf River Outfitters Fly Fishing Store on North Main in “Old Town” Pocatello. We will begin about 6:45 PM. Bring some of your tying stuff or just come along for the fun."

Any place where there is a gathering like this you are bound to learn somthing new.... What does it take to join the club... Also I will just be a spectator as like I said am very new to the fly fishing all though I use flys often on my spinning set up for steelhead and my browns from time to time.... Like I said I'll prolly be there thanks for the heads up...

I think it is about $15 to join, but you don't have to join to attend the meetings. The Dec one is more of a talk with everyone type - so besides seeing some flies tied, you can talk about places to fish etc.

The rest of the year's meetings usually have some big name speakers that share a lot of great information. Some on fly fishing, but usually more on areas to fish etc.

They also do a lot of conservation and education projects. Many opportunities to get involved and develop some "fishing contacts".
