I made the mistake of thinking that the deep freeze was going to make Fish Lake freeze early, once. I drove down and found ice in the marina behind the Fish Lake Lodge. It won't freeze until Christmas. It never does. Patience is a virtue.

It's pretty consistent year, after year, after year, no matter what kind of weather conditions we have. Every year the lake caps around the same week or two (between Christmas and New Year's).
Like other's have mentioned, you can usually find some ice to venture out on (north and south ends will usually have some ice prior to Christmas). But not much.
