Jim and I got up there for a few hours today... cold weather over the last few days, we figured the FnF would've turned on by now.
Started off fishing a shallow hump on the upper end. Water temp was 43F there emoEek ... didn't mark a fish. That water was definatly too cold so we headed down the lake. Pulled up to a point... got 2 bites but missed both. Fished another point, nothing. Finally decided to get up on the bluff walls. Thats were our fish were. FnF got the job done w/ 9-11FT leaders, and my little "Parksville Special" fly emoBig
was putting em in the boat.
Bite wasn't really on fire but was good. We managed 18 or 19 fish in just a few hours. Most were 14-15" spots with 2 or 3 12 inchers. Had 3 going 16-17" and the biggest went 18 inches. Much better than most being 10-12" fish.
Missed 3 more good ones that might've gone 18 inches or so. I dont know what's been going on this year, the bigger fish have been coming off on us alot. Not doing anything different.
Water temp was close to 50F throughout most of the lake and below 46F through the upper end. Weather was cold! Icey rods/line all afternoon!
Had a good afternoon, Jim... ready to go again soon.
