Afternoon Gents
Fished an hour at sunset last night around 8pm. Drop shot some night crawlers for 3 (10-12inch) trout (all released). Is there anything else in this lake besides trout and catfish? I had many missed bites, maybe bluegill or baby bass?

Lots of small bluegill and baby bass in there.

Right on for reporting, boost. Whizzle is right, probably gills or baby bass. Some years I've caught small carp there too. Those little fish will nibble away at your worm but you can't hook them because they won't take the whole bait. Sometimes I get curious when they're tugging but I'm not hooking up, so I'll downsize -smaller hook & bait, as small as a salmon egg hook. That's a good trick if you have kids with you and you need to produce fish. To most kids, a fish is a fish..... And it keeps the skunk at bay [

there are mostly trout during the fall/winter, and carp, bass, catfish year round assuming the cats don't get fished out there used to be alot of sunfish b4 they drained it a few years back, and "reports" of crappie many years ago, i've never seen one though, also i heard through the grapevine that someone decided to be a bucket biologist and threw in some smallmouth this passed summer. here are a few pix from earlier this year.

Hey syn those are some nice bass[cool]......and carp. Thanks for putting those pics up. Can you harvest carp from sunset and use for (dead) bait at mead? jus curious

Thanks for the info gents.
Looks like it might be time to break out the canned corn for those carp. I never knew you could use them for cut bait. Which species actually eats the things?
Sad to hear that they drained the lake, hopefully the bucket brigade plans will come to fruition
- Follow up 12/18/2010 Sunset 1hr report
Went with my better half around sundown that Saturday. Pleasantly surprised to see only a handful of people there but the weather was nasty. We get many bites and my wife manages to hook and release 6" trout before succumbing to the cold. Too bad we weren't in Mead or that would have been perfect bait...
