Anyone ice fish there? I am sure it has ice but it's never talked about. Heard it has weeds but doesn't that mean food or forage fish and then food for other fish?

I want to know if Mormon even has any fish in it anymore. The last time I have heard anything about it or even fished it was the year after the drought started. It has been about 6 years or so now. Sorry, I just checked my fishing log and it was back in 1997 the last year Mormon Res. was any good. That is a long time ago. It used to produce some of the hardest fighting trout around. The biggest trout that I caught from a floattube was out of there in November. That was the year before the drought. Please let us know!

Yeah, the report I got was wolves almost daily just below the dam all fall, but no fish were being caught during the nice fall weather in October and the first part of November. Maybe the wolves are going after fish as well as the elk, deer, sheep, family pets, etc.

My dad and I drove out there and tried it around August or so. He was scouting for hunting and we decided to see what it was like. When we got there and looked at it we almost decided not to go to the effort of unloading the 'toon and kayak, even though it only takes a little over 5 minutes.
We went ahead and did it anyway, since we were there. Went out and paddled over the weeds. There was a HUGE mayfly hatch with a ton of bugs on the water, but I wasn't seeing ANYTHING being taken. We tried to fish a little and didn't get anything, but the weeds made fishing very tough.
We went to Magic instead. That's the only time I've ever been to Mormon and I have no interest in going back. Maybe it was just a bad day, but I didn't see anything that justified driving there.

i remember about 8 years ago ( maybe 10 ) i was deer hunting north of the highway. i bagged my buck early and fished there in october. i caught and released several fat 13"-17" on a 1/16 oz panther marten. i went back a couple days later and got skunked. i have heard it was like a seceret little camasfor a lot of years but with the low water years we have been having it is like camas going dry nearly every lear. i think this could be a great lake and i bet the fish grow fast like camas. but i have no recent data
