Jason's daughter was sick and he had to watch her so I fished alone from 1 till dark yesterday. Wind wasn't too bad and it was pretty nice on the water . I left the dam and rode up just a little way and saw about a hundred seagulls diving in the middle of a slough. This helped save time on looking for bait! I fished several different shad type baits and caught every fish on a dropshot finnesse worm emoScratch I had the worm about 14 inches off the bottom. I used green pumpkin and some similar colors. The water was stained and the temps were still around 59 to 60 degrees. I wasn't really looking for schools of fish as usual, but simply finding a bait school and fishing under it. Problem is every species in the river is under the bait feeding emoBang I caught plenty of drum and several catfish and managed a decent limit of bass. The best five I'm guessing to be 17.5 to 18.5 lbs. I didn't have any scales or a good camera because I don't catch good fish when I take them emoLaugh I did snap a shot on my phone of my biggest and I'm guessing it was 5.5 lbs or so. This fish was FAT! I thought I just had another drum and when it jumped up by the boat my knees buckled. I was fishinf mostly 12 to 16 FOW and shaking the worm alot more than usual. The bight was very hard and sudden but I had a better hookup percentage than my last dropshot attempt emoDance. Great trip on the Chick and of the water cools down like it shoud next week the feeding should really pick up. The water was up a few feet also but when I left at dark the light on the dam was on so I guess they started running water. See you guys out there emoFish emoFish emoFish
