Well the title says it all here. Anyone have a report on ice conditions at Pelican Lake? Thinking of making a trip next weekend.
Thanks,

I checked ice conditions a week ago Friday (Dec 10). There was a lot of open water and thin ice around the edges. On the East side there was at least 20' of open water. The ice looked fishable but a lot of water was coming in from the inlet when I checked the north side. I didn't see any evidence of anyone fishing it on 10th. The lake level is rising fast creating a lot of open water and thin ice around the edges. I talked to a UDWR Aquatics Program Manager on Thursday (Dec 16) and she said people have been out on the ice. She didn't know if they have been wading to the ice or if things had thickened up so they could get on.
This storm we have been having the last couple of days has been very wet. It snowed pretty much all day yesterday (Sun Dec. 19) and then rained on top of that all night. Today it has been snowing (very wet snow) all day in the Basin. My educated quess would be that there is fishable ice but it would be very slushy. Bring good water proof boots and you may need waders to access the ice. I might be able to break away tomorrow (Tues Dec. 21) to check current conditions and I'll post up what I find.
