Another great day on the ice! Caught about 20 nice fish - almost a duplicate day that we had on the 18th. Four of us fished from about 8:30 till 1:00. Fish were biting good until about 11:00. Kept one that was about 22" and 3.5#. Released more than a dozen and one that was about 4#. Most of the other fish were about 16"-17". Started out pretty cool at about 10 deg. but warmed to 26 by noon. Fished in aobut 12' of water on the opposite bank from the launch. Hope we don't get too much snow or the 4-wheeler won't make it across. Good 10" of ice with about 3" of frozen snow/slush on top. A full crawler about 2' off the bottom works best for us. Hope is isn't too cold on Friday - I think they are calling for below 0 temps!

Anybody brave the storm and snow today at chesterfield? We've had a trip planned for a few weeks now, but are worried the roads won't allow us to make it. Any reports from the fellow BFT'ers?

The road was plowed Tuesday afternoon after some girl got her Dad's Chevy stuck in the ditch. Don't know how much snow fell there last night or today. Should be OK if one stays in the middle.Don't pull off too far to the side when passing. Supposed to be -7 in the morning with a light breeze. Be prepared for -15 with the wind chill! Not sure yet if we will brave it.

[shocked] I went yesterday during the storm. About five miles away from the dam I had my First[frown] mishap of the day. The Plow ended up pulling me out after digging for over an hour and a half. I eventually made it there. THE ROAD IS NOT PLOWED. When I did get there I tried to get to the other side of the dam where my Second and [crazy]Third mishap of the day happened. Not nearly as bad as the first though. When I got back to the West side I pulled a fellow Ice fisher out of the ditch near the dam who had just arrive. Together we proceeded to the boat ramp where we walked out and gave it a try. This is where the Fourth [frown]mishap of the day happened. Ice auger would not start. Too much snow soaking the filter was an easy fix, but just par for the day. Three hours of fishing between four of us and NADA [pirate]. Skunked for the first time this year. I eventually made it home where I relaxed with Rum and Coke, a fist full of Ibuprophen and my well deserved Cone Of Shame. Not all fishing stories are great ones....

Ouch, that does not sound like much fun. I thought those roads might get pretty dicey with a big snow storm. Hopefully the county will get the roads cleaned up. Hopefully your next trip out will be more fruitful!

Sounds like my kind of fishing. Was stuck twice at Twin lakes last year. Had to back out from the island once. Too bad the fish didn't cooperate. I like the rum and coke approach!

I live in lava!!! And the plows have been going full tilt since 4am trust me they woke me up!!! So I'm guessing there is a chance the road will be ok up to chesterfield but that's not a promise just a guess...

] Rum and Coke. Like fishing, Stick with what works....LOL. If you like to play with mother nature she is going to show you what a B*#CH she can be at times. Still love her though. It was a rough day though to say the least. That just means I will slay them next time.

Hope I did not lead anyone astray on the plowed road comment I made earlier. What I meant was the 1/2 mile stretch from the pavement to the reservoir. This is usually the worst bit of the whole drive in. Hope everyone braving the roads has a better day today!

just got back from chesterfield and caught 4 had hundreds of syrikes. 3 were caught on worms one on a orange glow cut'r bug biggest fish was my dads it was only 17'' so they were small but it was a really nice day out there today with the sun out... Oh and the roads were all plowed all the way to the res!!!! Took my wife out for her first ever ice fishing experience and she caught 2 of the 4 fish I caught one and my dad caught one.... Was a good day.... Kind of slow but productive.. And the fish were in around 15 feet of water.... Ice was around a foot thick.. With about 4 or 5 inches of snow ontop... And boy was it buissy out therre lots of people all over looked like a small town for a bit...

Good that you got your wife out with you.
Girls will always out fish the guys. The secret fishing formula is transmitted in the Barbie poles they used as kids!

Fished thrusday, friday, and saterday. Moved all over the lake different spot each day caught one thurs, 3 friday and 5 today. Biggest fish was about 19 smallest was 15 caught on variety of stuff inc worms, white jigs with cheese marshmellow and green jigs with worm. Had alot of bites but they were so lite it was hard to hook them. Fished in water between 8 to 15 feet deep mostly 2 feet off the bottom but we did catch one or 2 about 4 to 5 feet off the bottom. roads are looking good but the ice has a couple inches of slush under the snow. It wasnt the week end i hoped but not to bad. If you go hopefuly you have a heater cuz it is super cold and windy. when i got there it was about -4 each day and when we left around noon or 1 it was usually around 7 so good luck.

We fished on the 31st from 8am to 1:30, caught 16 between 3 of us. It was really good first thing in the morning. We iced 6 in the first 60 minutes. After that we would ice one every 20-40 minutes until we left. We were using Marcum flashers which really made all the difference. Most fish we caught we hardly could tell they bit. If we weren't expecting a bite because we saw them on the finder, we never would have caught them because of the extremely light bite. Also, it was about every 5th fish that came in and checked out our bait that actually bit. Nothing big, couple of 18inchers.
Thanks to everyone who replied to my post and PM's about the road conditions!

"And boy was it busy out there lots of people all over looked like a small town for a bit... "
[cool][#0000ff]It is liable to get a lot busier soon. Part of the Friday crowd included a film crew from Utah's "Roughing it Outdoors" show. They will probably be showing it either next Saturday night or the week after.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Guess they ran out of good places to hotspot in Utah.[/#0000ff]

we fished it friday in sub zero temps in the a.m but the roads were freshly plowed after the storm.
We fished right by the Roughin it guys and they didn't seem to be hootin and a hollarin too much so maybe it won't make it on tv, we will see i guess. Success was slow for us with only 7 fish iced and quite a bit of lite hit and runs. After 5 bites (to my 0)The girlfriend did catch a nice 20+ incher though. Gotta let her catch the bigguns so she will keep going.[
