I still don't know. I may still give it a try. There are just a bunch on family factors so I can't say yet.

If I can get my snowmobile running I will be by the outlet and in a tent to stay warm. It will be a cold very day.

I'll be there with my shelter and a Mr heater with plenty of extra propane.

We are coming from UT going to be a long walk to the outlet but going to give it a run!

I'll be there too! Bring your shovel and good water proof/warm boots. I'm sure there will be plenty of slush under the many inches of fresh snow (since there's so much on island park). If you're planning on walking in a ways where there won't be a trail or snowmobile tracks I would plan on wearing your snowshoes-snow is DEEP and fresh.

I"ll be fishing in one hole and a friend in one other- both in my red shelter with the heater on full blast[cool]

We also will be in a red quick fish4 likely at the hatchery or if the crowds are bad hiking to the outlet. No snow machines so will be interesting. Any idea on ice thickness or slush/snow conditions?

Fished 4 hours at county boat dock . Not one bite for two of us . Only 6 fish were caught in the area . . A lot of people started at midnight but never caught a fish until 7AM . Talked to some guys coming back from Staleys They all limited out on nice fish . Time to buy a snow machine . Parking lots were all full and lots of people parking on the road . Curt G.

Thanks for the report. Sorry it didn't go better for you. It is a heck of a hike from the county boat dock to Staleys. I know. I did it in November. Same with Pintail point to Staleys.

How much snow was on the ice?

I wish I would have never read the article in the Post Register . It said 24" of snow on the ice , so I took a lot of my regular gear out of my sled to save weight . Stuff I could have used . There were people riding 4 wheelers all over the lake . If I would of had mine I could have made it to Staley's . And the weather man was way wrong . Part of the day I didn't even wear my Coat . It was a great day even if we didn't catch fish . P.S. I picked up empty propane bottles , empty cans and bait contaners . Come on guys , lets not give the people that are against ice fishing Henry's any good reasons to shut it down . Curt G.

Ya, that is one of the reasons that I didn't go to Henrys I thought with that much snow I might not be able to get around.

They did print the picture of my sons brookie.

That is an awesom picture . something to treasure forever . I wish I had a piece of property close to Staley's I would keep it plowed out and charge $10.00 to park for the day and maybe run a shuttle to and from different fishing spots on the Lake . There were some very nice people out with 4 wheelers yesterday helping a lot of fishermen drag there equipment into the parking lot I thought that was cool . Everyone we talked to was very friendly , made for an enjoyable day even if the fish were not biting . Curt G.

Wow! I was very surprised when I followed the link to see the picture of that "trophy brook trout" I caught and took home and ate! I am a very quiet guy and don't like getting into the arguments that have been on here about fly fishing vs. ice fishing or catch and release vs. catch and keep but this struck a nerve.
I have been fishing henrys for over 20 years now and respect it as a trophy fishery. I enjoy fly fishing but enjoy ice fishing as well. Over the years fishing there I hardly ever keep my limit of fish. Occasionally I like to take a couple home for my 3 sons and I to eat. Sorry if some of you out there don't approve of this but I believe that God created all creatures for the use of man. Not the other way around. I try as best I can to respect this resource.

As you can see from the picture the fish was bleeding from the gills. Would it have been ethical to drop this fish back down the hole and let it sink to the bottom of the lake? Anyone who fly fishes knows that this happens to you too. Do you just toss a bleeding fish back in the water? I know some of you think that us ice fisherman just take these fish home and throw them in the trash but as for me that couldn't be more wrong. When the water temps get into the 30's it makes the fish more firm and it tastes less fishy and mossy. Especially brook trout! Well sorry to go off but I think I am done now. I will probably just keep my pictures of fish that I have killed to myself so no one can judge me for doing wrong.

According to the people on the other website it wasn't ethical for you to be out fishing without a fly pole! I would have been there also, but I had a grandsons blessing I wasn't going to miss. Great job and very nice fish.

We don't need this discussion started up again.

We also don't need people coming from another site to start trouble.

Let's please drop this now before we have to take any other measures. Thank You.
