I havnt as well I think it's because no one goes there any more.. Might have somthing to do with the fishing conditions there for the past few years but it has picked up alot this year...

I can't find anywhere the fish and game has stocked brookes in there. I've fished it before and only caught bows and cutts. I really don't think brookies could live in that shallow of a reservior. Good luck, please prove me wrong never caught a brookie through the ice.

I've caught a few brookies there but it's been more than 10 years ago. Not sure if there still there, maybe Jeremy will find out for us!

My bad. 12 year ago was the last time planted. I though a ten year search was good. Good luck!

brooks are all over in garden creek which feeds hawkins .... And just this summer I watched a guy on a tube fishing the far corner by the inlet in the reeds pull out a 22 1/2'' brook.. Never seen a cutt in there in all the days I've fished it.. Doesn't mean there not there though!!!! But I will post tomorow on my findings.... I don't have to high of hopes but you never know tell you try...

To find the stocking report . Go to Idaho Fish and Game web site and click on Fishing . Tab down until you come to stocking Report and them select how many years you want to go back and then select South East and find Hawkins . It shows the last time brookies were plant was 1998 . I hope this Helps you find what you were looking for . Curt G.

Good luck on the Brookies in Hawkins. They have been gone from there a long time. Not even sure if they survived in the creek above the res. I haven't caught one there in at least 10 years. It is Hawkin's Creek not Garden Creek by the way that feeds Hawkin's Res.
Hawkins is small and gets fished pretty hard in the summer as it is considered a put and take. The fish can grow there quite well if they are in there long enough, but they seldom are in there very long.
Here is the url for the main stocking page, just go to the southeast region:

caught 2 brookies in an hour of being there nothinh big and hooked into a bow ... Wasn't there for more than 2 hours due to a mtn lion being there with me scared me pretty good!! Looks as if no one has been there at all this ice season the ice was around 6 to 7 inches thik... So if any one goes there beware of the mountain lions in the area.....

I am more pumped about your Mountain Lion report! I am an avid wildlife observer with quite a book collection and observation list. I travel exstensivly just in the hopes of spotting one. In fact my North American species list is now pretty short that I still need to spot these being: Polar Bear, Musk Ox, Fisher, Wolverine, and yes the elusive Mountain Lion. I have heard them, found one dead, but still have not spotted one. If I go to Hawkins I probably will loose poles, because my eyes will be on the hill sides.
Great Report!

You caught some brookies! Cool!
I am amazed. I haven't seen them there for years. They must have been hiding out in a deep hole in the creek somewhere when the drought and work on the dam dried everything up a few years back. I thought they were wiped out then.
There are lions all over these hills. I have had them on my back deck -- looking in through my french doors no less. They usually aren't seen much. They follow the deer down out of the upper hills. We counted almost 200 deer in the field below us the other day.
How was the road past Hawkins?

That is what is so frustraitng about getting to see one. There are many, they will take a nap on peoples decks, they will be way up in a tree in a neighbors yard, there was even one spotted in metro Chicago last year. Bottom line they are seen if they want to be seen, and I just hope to be given the oppertunity to view one just once[
]
PS: That had to spark a variety of emotions to see one looking through your glass door[shocked]

I wasn't to surprised about the brookies as just this sumer I scene a guy catching them right where I went today!!!!! The 2 I caught were just little guys though nothing much... And the bow was also small... The mtn lion kind of put a stop to my fishing at hawkins for the day.. As I was there by myself and all I had for self protection was my pocket knife.. I usually bring my gun with me because I've scene them there befor in the past but this time I didn't... I just didn't want to find out to bad if he was friendly or not.... The fact he was around 20 yards away just kinda pushed me back to my car and gone... But the ice was safe just not worth it unless you want to catch really small fish and have to find the inlett drop... So report is bad....

How much new snow was there? I fished it tuesday there was only two inches of snow on the ice. I had about the same report minus the mtn. lion.
[signature]
there was about a foot of snow on the lake and about 7 inches of ice
