Fishing Forum

We made the trip down to Fish lake today. Started out down by Bowery haven marina ( north end). went out drilled a hole found 7 inches of ice, went out a little further drilled 6-7 inches, decided to make the trip across to the east side since we had good fishing in the past over there. checked the ice all the way across 6-7 inches, Fished along the east shore until about 1:30, caught about 20 fish between 4 of us. pretty slow fishin!! We decided to head back across and do some fishin by the truck for the afternoon. we followed our tracks back. and about half way across my friend went through the ice. He was able to fall forward and roll out on the ice, but he went in to waist high, he also was pulling a sled with his son in it. pretty dam scary for a moment!!! The crazy thing is we walked right across the same spot in morning and had no problems. anyways just a word of caution!! Be careful Guys!! make sure you got some rope and a life preserver, just in case something like this happens!! Be Safe and good fishin!![]

You can never be too safe! Some guy fell through at Mantua. I swear it was the same spot I had my tent a day or two before. I second the bring a rope. I even started throwing a life jacket in my sled this year.
