Bear Lake Fishing Report:
There is quite a bit of ice floating around in the lake off the Utah State Park Marina and the marina has frozen even with the de-icers running 24/7. Launching is still available along the east side at Cisco Beach and 1st Point. Both ramps have been plowed, but the docks have been removed due to icing problems.
Anglers (both boat and shore) have been doing excellent for cutthroat trout and a few lake trout. Best luck has been off 2nd Point jigging and off Cisco Beach jigging and trolling. Try depths of 30-50 feet. Use 3/4 -1 ounce jigs tipped with cisco, sucker or carp meat when jigging. The trollers are doing well using rapala style lures with rattles in them off downriggers in the 40-50 foot depths. You can fish from shore at the Utah State Park marina and anglers are picking up a few rainbow and cutthroat trout. Use powerbait or worms under a bobber in about 5-10’ of water for the rainbow and cast spoons or rattling crankbaits for the cutthroat. There is currently about 15” of snow along the west side of the lake and about 10” along the east side.
Laketown Reservoir:
It is ice covered with 4-8” of ice. Fishing pressure has been light. Access to the reservoir is by snowmobile, due to the deep snow. Fishing has been good for rainbow trout using small jigs, Swedish pimples and ice flys tipped with a meal or wax worm.
