Was up on Saturday the 8th, caught 11 nice rainbows, spent all day on the ice, slow fishing, nice weather! All the fish were from 13"-17".

how are the edhes on the ice I've hurd it was still kind of soft around the edges.. I really want to go but I don't really want to deal with soft edges this year at all.

Go to your local home depot, buy a 12 foot x 12 inch x 2 inch plank and take it every where you go ice fishing. Problem solved.

easy to say when you have a truck!!!! I got rid of my gas guzzler... So I don't have anything to haul a 12 foot piece of wood....

I fished it last Monday and the edges were fine. There was a crust layer in one spot on the lake that I broke through into slush but with good boots you should have no trouble.

Do you think I could get around on the lake with a 4 Wheeler . Curt G.

Last week the edges were fine a little slushy but it felt solid snow wasn't deep and ice was solid you could probably take a 4 wheeler but i don't own one so don't trust my word . You could always take it with you and if you can use it you 'll have it with you. I've always fished the dam area so i drive to the dam and walk down Not to tuff.

There were two guys with wheelers when I went.

On saturday the edges were fine, completely froze up, there were 3 snowmobiles on the ice that drove over the edge without breaking the ice, there was about a foot of ice on the lake as well

Thanks for the help . Curt G.

Just got back yesterday from Deep Creek, only caught 2 trout, lots of slush on top of about 1 ft of ice, edges were crappy.

Hit deep creek today, wow is it slick, its almost impossible to walk on without cleats. did ok, got 6 between 11 and 17 inches plus put a few smaller ones back. Talked to a guy and he told me about the parisites under the skin on the trout, I had not seen that before, now it makes me wonder if I want to eat any more from there. I have fished there a few times before and brought fish home to eat but didnt notice them. he said they are harmless but now I know they are there and can see lots of them when I clean the fish. Just wondering what other people know about this.

There has been a post on these last year and what we found out, is these parasites will not transfer to humans, but most people won't eat the fish. I have fished Deep creek quite a bit and find that if a take a infected fish home my wife won't cook it or have it in the sink, not alone the fridge. At Deep Creek I have had to resort to catch, quick inspect and release.
The life cycle of the parasites, if I remember right, takes birds, snails and fish to complete. The parasites are also in Devils creek and Chesterfield, probably other places also, but those are the ones I remember. Please correct me if I have forgot something. I would tell you to do a search, but when I do a search I still can't find what I am looking for anyway.

Just make sure you always cook your fish all the way through! I've personally ate quite a few trout out of Deep Creek and never had any problems, i have seen a few with black spots, never a big deal as long as you cook it !
