I need a little advice. I am from northern Utah but am headed to Twin to take my gf ice fishing. I am not familiar with this are at all. Any advice on where I might hook her up with some trout preferably but am open to panfish as well. Thanks in advance.

Magic Reservoir might be good- see if there are any posts here about it, or google it and call the lodge. A lot of the guys here can tell you more about it.

In that are there are several good places you could try. Carey, Fish Creek, Little Wood, Magic, Salmon Falls Creek, and some others. What type of fish do you want to target?

I would prefer trout but have nothing against pan fish. Mostly want the gf to catch some fish so she will want to go again.

It can be really hit and miss on any of the lakes, so it doesn't sound like it matters too much which one you go to. All can be really good at times and poor at other times. There have been a lot of trout caught at Magic, SFCR, and Little Wood. I think quite a few, but not sure on Fish Creek (it was fairly slow when I was there). Perch fishing can be good at Magic, Carey, and SFCR, but as far as I know it has been fairly slow everywhere.

I'd believe SFCR has the most variety of types of fish you can catch and I think it might be the closest to Twin also.

Where would be a good place to start at SFCR? Baits, Jigs, ect.

Two previous posts about SFCR.

The trout fishing was good for us at grey's landing in 10-20 feet with jigs tipped with meal worms or night crawlers. For perch you will likely need to move deeper and use smaller jigs with wax worms or spikes. You may also get lucky and hook into a walleye. There are good access roads at grey's landing and norton bay. Hope this helps!

I fished Geys Landing last friday. We were in 20 feet of water and caught 17 real nice trout. The bite was good early and then spotty after noon but real lite. We fished with powerbait and worms. Another fisherman next to us fished with a green jig and green plastic body tipped with a meal worm and did well also. Everyone was catching fish. No perch or walleye.
