While I was fishing.
The top one for me was my son Jacob and I were fishing in float tubes at Strike. Two idiots were fishing on a cliff and we were about 75 yards away from the cliff. These prize winners found a Rattle snake and grabbed it by the tail. They spun it around and threw it at us in the water. I yelled at Jacob to get the heck out of there. We were lucky that the snake headed for the bank. Ron

probly the dumbest thing I have ever witnessed while fishing was at deep creek with my dad in the boat!!! And some guy with 2 little kids was ripping around us on his jet ski showing off!!! Got pretty angerd so we moved... Any way he continued to just haul butt all over the lake... And then I hear it the engine reved and peaked the limeter a few times the dumb a%+ found the moss beds and sucked the moss and in the prosses he came to a very sudden stop and him and the two kids went flingen off of the jet ski... They crawled back on it and the guy was pulling 10 15 foot strips of lake grass out of the inpeller for about 20 min tell I decided to be the nice guy and go help him out had to pull him over to the dock... And that same day when I was getting to leave I got so angerd with the people and there lack of respect there was probly 20 25 people on that little dock at deep creek...and not a one of them moved for us to dock and get out... They just stood there and looked stupied... I hate it when people lack the commen cents to move and not bulgart the dock..

Does watching yourself drop the spud bar through the ice count? Had a rope on it and everything. Gee, why wouldn't I have wrapped it around my wrist? Thump, thump, crack, crash, thump, whoosh.....gone. I was told the look on my face was priceless. I know how I felt so it must have been. Only went ice fishing a few times and has been almost 20 years. Would much rather ski although one of those tents and heaters don't sound like a bad way to kill an afternoon.
That's a pretty good story about the rattler there. You have got to laugh at that by now.

Block the ramp while they load/unload gear into their boats instead of getting ready in the parking lot. Run boats in areas where they could get seriously hurt because they are running it completly wrong. Keep well over the legal limit of steelhead while an undercover F&G officer is perched in the trees on the opposite side of the river. Seen F&G employees get busted for keeping non clipped fish. I could go on and on........... Seems like fishing brings out some real morons at times but I've also met some quality individuals through fishing.

Stupidest thing I've seen was a guy and his daughter in a 10 foot fibreglass boat, heading down into Coffeepot rapids after I told them that it was extremely dangerous, even in a kayak. They wrapped their boat around a rock, stranded the guy in the middle of the river, and, but for the help of some heads-up fishermen, nearly drowned his own daughter.

afraid i gotta agree with 2dogs. i figure throwin a poisonus snake at someone aint much different than throwin lead so why not return the favor.
Opening weekend at Henrys should be enough. I watched a 25 or so foot boat go between 2 tubers that were less than 100 feet apart then turn around and pass less that 75 feet from another one at more than 30 mph both times. To far to see a hull number.

A water skier coming so close he almost caught my lure before it hit the water.

Fishing off an ocean pier with the whole ocean to drive in, a boat comes within casting distance where fisherman had 3 to 4 inch diameter bobbers in the water that the boat should have see. This pier was so full it looked like it had whiskers on it from all the poles. Then about a dozen guys start tossing their 8 oz weights at the boat. I was to far to see if any hit the boat but they made a quick change in direction and the end of the pier seemed to of had a good time

My question on this one is, how many carry guns "legally"....[shocked]
Ron, that is ridiculous, I am not sure what I would do. Specially with a child at risk.
I don't know if reporting would do any good with the your word agains theirs.

That is just crazy, but so is the shooting that is going on in the world.
Glad you are okay though.

[mad] I have seen a few too. One was when some guys in a 4-wheeler got stuck on the dirt road that gos from the gravel road to the dirt road and into Chesterfield. We stopped loading our ice fishing gear and tried to get them out but couldn't. Finally a road grader came along and pulled them out. They then proceded to turn right around and roar right back into the mud hole and got stuck again! I'm petitioning Webster's Dictionary to call common sense "rare sense". It's becoming rarer all the time.

I ice fish not because I like the cold, but, because it is the only time of year I can impress my wife by walking on ice.

Not just stupid, but mean too.
I wonder how they grabbed the rattler without getting bit. I'm not about to try myself and find out.
If there's any justice in this world, I suppose Darwin will catch up with them sooner or later.

Many years ago, when I was still in high school, we were visiting Yellowstone. This was at a time when black bears still were "begging" along the roadside. There was a sow with two cubs and the mom was up a ways getting food thrown out of a car. A Calilfornian ahead of us took his little daughter, maybe 3 yrs. old, and--with the mother screaming in disapproval--placed the girl on the back of one of the cubs. He then asked the hysterical mother to take a picture. The cub let out a squeal, and the mother came a rippin'. How he got back to his car with the daughter in time I still can't figure out, but he didn't have a second to spare. Now that's what I call stupid! Mike

I didn't see this, but I saw the results and heard about it. One of the former bosses in the company where I work was launching his boat alone. Instead of leaving the boat secured to the trailer, he had hold of the rope inside his new truck, with the door partially open. After backing into the water he stopped quickly to get the boat off the trailer, well maybe a little too fast, because the boat pulled him out of the truck. When it did that his foot came off the brake and not being in park the the truck continued down the ramp, running over one of his legs giving him a permanent limp and almost drowning him. If there wouldn't have been other people watching he wouldn't have been that lucky.

Grabbing a rattaler by the tail isn't to hard to do if the snake is cold. MY best friend has a vidio of him doing it (it may still be on youtube) while working on a pipeline in MT or WY i can't remember and if you act like the snake is a whip and give it a good flick the head will come off.kinda cool

well let me just set the record straight about how and why i carry guns......... as my name may suggest i am not the stereotypical redneck that thinks alcohol tobbaco and firearms (ATF) would be the perfect convinience store. nor do i shoot my guns unless its perfectly safe to do so and or WARRANTED given the situation. HOWEVER if some jackass thinks its ok to throw poisonus snakes at another human being, and they are willing to kill or seriously injure another, they must not hold their own life in very high regard, so if they dont care why should i?... i dont support the "let the dumb ones weed themselves out" theory.... the idiots that think its ok to put other peoples lives at risk may not understand the consequences of their actions, they might not realize they could kill someone or that someone could kill them because of something stupid. i for one chose to put myself in control of my own well being. there was a guy up at causey stabbed not too long ago because of a camping spot...this is an example of why i advocate self preservation (carrying a gun) i really do have faith in our law enforcement but they cant be everywhere all the time and all it takes is the blink of an eye to end a life. i for one choose NOT to be a victim....heaven forbid i ever have to take a life but this is why i pack and yes i am legal. and it makes for a great animal deterent. crack a few shots into the hillside and them Angry moose will turn on a dime and not stomp you to death...... all this being said im tired of attempting to sound intelligent so its time to give the noggin a break.... ima go throw on some cut-offs, crack an ice cold keystone and watch some nascar yeeeeeeeeeee!
I feel I must say something here. I said you must laugh at the snake being thrown story by now. I did not mean to say it is funny to throw a rattler at someone. I find humor in most anything and when I picture someone with a rattle snake by the tail and throwing it, I take the story as it wasn't intentional to throw a poisonous snake at someone. They picked it up, figured out that was a mistake, and threw it. You guys just happened to be in the area. I picture a couple of guys starting to panic and not know what to do dancing around with a rattlesnake in their hand. There are kooks and idiots out there for sure, but I didn't read the story as a malicious act. I saw it as a couple of boneheads got themselves in a bit of a situation and flung the snake away. Stupid things, not malicious. Some people just don't know any better. Lack of sense and courtesy seem to be the prevailing topics in this thread. I guess that is stupid....lack of sense.

I too pack, but I do have a license for it. And for me to use it, there will be NO alcohol anywhere near me, or in me, AND I better have iron clad proof that this person was intending to do bodily harm to me.

Maybe as stated, these guys pick up the snake then wonder what the heck to do now, so throw it, not realizing it would land where people are.....and that there is what the courts look at.

The craziest thing i have ever seen someone do was when i was working up to minadoka dam . there was a ice fisherman walk over to the open water right in front of the old power house and look down into the water. there was always an open area where the water swirled from going down into the turbines. I grabed a life ring and headed that way but he was lucky and all he got was a scolding to get out of there.
I have seen many rattle snakes and blow snakes swimming why fishing subblet and always keep an eye out behind me last thing i want is one thinking my toon is an island

I carry and would use if the situation called for it but one must way there options because criminal and civil repercussions will result from a bad decision
