This thread is about equipment. What have you had good luck with what stunk?
For me my good list.
#1- My new to me pontoon the Fish Cat 9. I got this pontoon last spring and it was an amazing upgrade from my other pontoon.
#2- I put a minn kota 45# thrust motor on the FC9 and went to trolling. I had a blast.
#3- rebel crawdad lures. I used these when I was trolling last year and they worked for everything at SFCR.
#4- I switched to braded line for most of my fishing. I am sure it is not the end all of all lines but I like not having any tangled lines. No bird’s nests, and I can feel the bites better. I use a mono leader to help with abrasion cuts, and to protect fish from getting cut with the braded line.
#5- I got a remote on off switch for my motor. The switch kept me from turning around to kill the motor when I was trolling.

good thread!
1. Both of the Scadden boats we got this year, an Avenger and a Renegade. GOOD
2. Hydros Fly Rods by orvis... had 2 different one, made a 3 casts total off both rods (1 cast with one 2 casts with anothe5r) both broke in the exact same place right above the handle. Hydros only, have yet to break a Helios aside from the movers crushing it. Hydros = BAD
3. Allen Fly Fishing.... got a few reels, he is making me a rod, got some of his line... can not beat his customer service, absolutely top notch... GOOD

1. My first boat - purchased an 18' ProCraft bass boat. I absolutely love this boat
2. OKUMA REFLEXION spinning rods - I purchased the ML to use for larger trout and it turned out to be a perfect shakey head/small jig rod. Some of you may laugh or scorn me...but I like this rod better than my GLoomis GLX.
3. SHIMANO SEDONA spinning reels - Previously used the Cardinal 500 series and was starting to have issues. Purchased 2 Sedona's in the 2500 series and they are great reels for the price; will buy more in the future.
4. ETRAILER.COM - Needed to change the bearings/hubs/seals on both wheels before the new year. These guys answered all my questions with expert advice, have detailed how-to videos on their site, and I got free shipping.
5. Hoping to get out this weekend and test out a few Christmas presents.

Great idea for a thread!

The good would be an Okuma setup I got that just keeps on fishing and fishing. I ahve a custom rod I love and other high end rods but this little rod just keeps going.
Kids had a little bear or something named like that kids set up by South Bend too. Little yellow closed face spinning reel and a rod about 4' long or so, Nice action on the rod for sure. All yellow. That went through 4 kids and it has caught probably as many fish as any of my "real" outfits. Still have it and still works 15 or so years later.
The bad? Trips to famous muskie waters and no muskie? Two muskie rods and reels, assorted leaders, lures, etc. not getting lots of use out here.
The ugly? Would all that shiny stuff that caught me and doesn't get lots of use as I keep going back to my old favorties be it?
Blondieeeeeee.....
