Wasted about 2.5 hrs @ UL in the pollution/fog...went to AF boat harbor...turned a small section into swiss cheese...NOTHING...not by the fence, bouys, rocks, or docks! WOW!! Drove to DC around noon and that was a good move. Went to the Island SP and went strt out from the ramp in about 40' of water. Saw a fish on the locator before I even had bait on it's way down! Got that one, and missed the next 20 or so bites trying to figger out the bite sequence. Perch bite SO LIGHT right now. I was at PV yesterday and the perch there were biting just like at DC today. Toads/dinks would barely move the spring bobber!! And just like at Starvy the other day...LIGHT BITES! When ya finally get a hook in 'em then ya feel how big they REALLY are. 5 perch at Starv, 10 at Pineview, and 15 at Deer Creek...all in one week! I gotta brush up on my perch fishing!! Shoulda gained 10 lbs on perch fillets this week!!
Got some on a Northland jigging thingy with a solid hook in trout color w/perch meat (PV perch LOVED it) and some of the bigger toads on my perch colored Rapala jigger thingy. That things got more hooks than WalMart. Even look at it crosseyed and ya get hooked.
Used my Vexilar to it's utmost today, and was handicapped without the camera...DAM MARCUM CAMERA TOOK ON WATER!! $125 to replace it from Marcum...let's see... I used it 10 times +/- in the last year...that puts it at about $12.50 per use!!
Seemed everyone around me today was catching fish...mostly slimers...everywhere!! I drove the whole lake before parking. Walsburg - FULL! Rainbow bay -Full or little parking. I drove by the Charleston bridge parking area...FULL...as every pullout was full or busy, I just went to the state park, pulled out the park pass, and got a ring side seat! Styling!!
I'm trying to ask for permission to go again tomorrow, but football, fishing, football, fishing, football, fishing...hmmmmm....maybe early??!!
