Has any one been on the Clearwater near Orifino in recent weeks? Heard water temps 36 and clear. Dragging the boat over there in two weeks. Hoping the fish are there this year. Last year most the fish had been in the river system so long they were just plan beat up.

all the rain and warm temps blew out the Ice from Lowell on down last Friday through Monday!

My son and I floated Kooskia to Kamihia last Friday in our new to us, drift boat. The flow was way up and we dodged Ice bergs all day. One hit that wasn't ICE!

Saturday we fished the NF and Floated the big muddy down to Pink House. Watched 5-8 jet boats attempting to side drift black rock through the McGill. Watched one Big Old Guide boat hook-up and lose one! Talked to the F&G Saturday afternoon, they hadn't logged in any fish yet that day! Did see one caught on a bobber in the NF below the power lines. With the cooler weather the deep holes should produce, the water is dropping fast!

They'll be great eaters for another Month at least, I don't go by just color. It's more in how the smell, ever try to eat a Lower Columbia River Fall Chinook, (Tule')

They smell as bad as they taste! The other whitemeat

I've spent enough time on the clearwater to know that if your fishing around the hatchery this time of year you are gonna get some BOOTS! Some of those fish have been hanging out around the Ahasaka hatchery since aug/sept. Good news is you can pitch back the bucks and whack the hens and stock up on eggs for springer season. The fish can be given to the neighbor you dont like.

Thanks for the info. Only get 6 or 8 days on the clearwater each spring. Next trip will be in the Columbia Gorge for springers. Talk bout eaters. Love the Clearwater in spring just hope I can run the jet. Some years I wish I had the hyde till it rains for 5 strait days as it did in 09 when we went. Got wetter than the fish.
