Fishnut and myself tried the North Marina yesterday morning to no avail. The ice is a good 6 inches thick or more but fairly slick. I tried maybe 1/2 dozen different areas with only several light nibbles. I hadn't been on the ice there for quite a few years, but I knew there use to be a bad spot on the East end of the bay so I set out looking for it. I was able to locate it fairly easy with about a 2ft. circle of open water. I drilled several holes to check the ice near it and it is 6 inches thick. You would have to step pretty much in the hole to go thru. It is located about 50 or 60 yards SE of the dock that the Park Rangers tie their boat up to. Be careful in that area especially if we get a snow cover. I did notice some one else had drilled holes near it in the past as they were froze solid. Old timers may remember that someone usually went thru the ice in that area every once in awhile.[:/][:/][:/]
