Does a full or bright moon have a negative affect on hard deck fishing as it does on soft water fishing ? I have been thinking about this question for years now but want to hear what some of you think about it?

Me too! That's why I started a fishing log at http://www.profishinglog.com . I figured I'll never get there unless I start today.

Thanks for the link to the article. I think the guy is spot on with solar/lunar affects on fishing. Sunrise in the summer is my favorite time to fish and I like to start right at twilight when you can barely see where you are casting.

He may have missed another key event that I am going to try and track down. That is see if the fishing is good when the sun or moon is at the highest point in the sky for the day and the other body (sun or moon) is at the highest point on the other side of the earth (Direct opposite and in line) or perpendicular (rising/setting).

I have never done good ice fishing on a full moon. I notice that it does affect the bit. I have been ice fishing all my life.

I believe you can look at all the scientific data and think of what you will. Here is some plain old common sense.
Everyone knows that hunting deer after a full moon results in few if any deer spotted. They graze all night then bed down.
Full moon for fish is the same. They eat all night because the added light allows them to. By morning the are full. So they go to a deep spot and rest. I have seen this time and again. (once a month for a day or two).
So in a full moon situation try the evening bite.
