I decided to take the kids out on a rabbit hunt to my favorite spot on saturday. The kids were thrilled to have a change to find some "bunnies". So at 1000 we headed out west into the desert. There was several snow drifts covering the road and I tried to power through one about 50 yards long and about 1 1/2 deep. Needless to say I got the truck stuck. I drive a quad cab diesel so it took putting on the chains and some digging to get her loose. After we got her out it was only about noon and we were 3/4 the way out there so we pressed on. Got to my spot and the wind was blowing but the kids where amped to chase some rabbits so away we went. After about 1 1/2 hours two of the kids gave up and walked back to the truck. But we were seeing rabbits so my youngest (9) and my oldest (17) decided to ride the wind out. We hunted till dark and ended up seeing 60 rabbits and killing 13. It was a great day hunting because most of the rabbits were leaving within a few feet and the brush was not too thick. So on the way home we got a flat tire. I had everything I needed to change the tire but a pair of vice grips. I started walking to the nearest house which was about 7 miles away, I walked for about 2.5 hrs to the house. The guy at the home let me take his truck to drive back to fix the tire.
I will be eternally grateful to the guy that helped me on that day.

That's an amazing duck in your avatar! Mallard-Pintail? Pillard? Maltail? Did you take that pic or just find it?

I found the pic of a mallard-pintail hybrid after by brother shot one a few years ago.
I had no idea that a duck would cross breed like this until he shot his and had it mounted.
