Anyone ever ice fish on Springfield or McTucker Ponds? Do they freeze over enough to fish out there? Anything else in that area worth checking out during the winter.

Yes to Mctucker . The ice is safe . The pond in the south east corner has Rainbows and Yellow Trout up too 5 pounds . I call them yellow because I don't know if they are banana or golden trout . Curt G.

Springfield doesn't freeze over enough for ice fishing. A lot of people fish the open water during the winter. It can be very good if the weather is right. Hope this helps!

Ice at McTucker is getting to be in bad shape. Pond 8 which is the SE pond was about 5" on Sat and there is open water on the north side of the pond extending out about 20'. Some of the other ponds had soft spots you could see on them. Things may be better if it stays cold. Springfield was about 60/40 on Sat, 60 being open water.

Great info. Thanks. I heard they put the yellow trout in there just before it got cold. Wasn't sure how many tho or if there were any significant number of them left.
