It looks like all my good spots on the Weber in the canyon are on private property is that correct? I guess I can fish near Taggart and Peterson but that is about all, it doesn't look like there is any DWR access points that have been secured. I am so fed up with this STATE!!! My money is going to Wyoming. I hate to rehash this issue but it pisses me off.

I hear you on that. it is a big joke. What i think. they own the river bed. well i guess your water bill just went much higher. for how much cfw goes thru there LAND. they should pay that amount. the wyoming and idaho waters are much cleaner. just my 2 cents...

Do you have a link that we could read about the new law? I fish that stretch often and would be interested in reading it.

I hear you Mike! It sucks, not a lot of good streams in the winter to fish now nearby. There is some access just above the canyon but usually winter flows are so low above lost creek that it's marginal. Does look like they are releasing some water right now from Echo for the past day. Echo is at 79% full but maybe they'll be releasing some to make room for the high snow pack to melt. Not sure but if the flows stabilize for several days probable worth a try as plenty of big fish quickly move up. I'm heading to southern Utah to fish small streams this weekend but think I'll get an annual permit for ID & WY this year. Not so sure the UT license is worth the money even for in state folks.

Those maps are pretty interesting. There are some spots that are listed as public on the Little Bear, Cinnamon Creek and the upper Blacksmith, but then there aren't any roads leading to them. If you have to cross private property to get to them then they aren't really open to the public. I'm not sure how that's supposed to work.

Sounds like a plan Riverdog, but that $100. each state per person times two in my case.........Yikes! I might need a new way of lovin' life.

Joni,
I don't have nearly the money you have invested in your toys and warehouse of boo and orvis rods. Just sell one of those rods and you'll cover out of state licences for a few years for both of you. Or you could always get a regular job[Sad] but I think that's a bit of an extreme suggestion for you[laugh].

Man you got that right....however, is cool when asked what I do for a living....Rock and Roll and guide.
Everything is on a budget these days, and sell my Bamboo??????? no way, that there is my retirement...LOL

Paul,

I went up to Coalville today, weather was beautiful (was sweating in my fleece) water was perfect, low and clear and the fish were kicking my Arse!!! they must have known I was complaining because they were pretty tight lipped today. I stopped on the way up and checked Taggart, water was really high and murky, Lost Creek must really be dumping some water in because there was nothing coming out of Echo. Have fun down South, storm coming here this week temps. back into the 20's

Echo release went from about 7 to 368 now back to 7.9.

I was fishing the weber below lost creek yesterday and the river dropped about two feet in about an hour as it started getting close to 5pm, it was crazy how fast it dropped. Is this caused by run off or the dam?
[signature]
That's from the dam, funny how they raise and lower the flows so much in the winter, but if it dropped that fast it's the dam. Like I said I drove by Taggart at 0800 and it was really high so I went above Echo they must have shut it down during the day.

I will represent anyone for free that gets charged with trespassing on the Weber as long as you acted accordingly, that is, you entered the river from public property and stayed in the river the entire time.

You have to agree not to accept a plea deal and take it all the way to the Utah Supreme Court.

Any takers?

i could be down for that

Kind of makes me want to get caught! You are a lawyer in real life, right?
[signature]
I'll contact you if I ever get arrested for actions that I'm entitled to as an American. In the unlikely event of it going to the U.S. Supreme Court will you cover that as well? That be kind of cool plus a no brainer win as there is 150 + years of clear legal precedent of the Supreme Court affirming these rights.
Who votes for these un-American traitors in this state anyway? They are threatening new laws that are clearly not constitutional under either the Utah or U.S. Constitution.
While they are trying to move are state back toward the 19th Century I read yesterday that Utah is among the top 10 states education and job preparedness for the future is lagging the rest of the country.

Maybe you're right jdizzle, I always figured they have to catch me which isn't likely as if I want to get away I will. Why should we run because of an illegal seizure. Maybe we should film the whole thing and get caught demonstrating our American rights. I'm an American way before I'll bow down to these unpatriotic f*&% id*&$%

Yes, I am an actual attorney. I dutifully check the Utah State Bar Journal each month to make sure I haven't been disbarred.
I actually worked on stream access issues back in the '90s.
I'm a corporate lawyer now but I used to do quite a bit of criminal defense.
