Shane and I got up to the lake for a few hours this afternoon.
All I can say is there were nothing that would bite at all.
Fished FnF most of the day, may have had one bite but not even sure if it was one. Also worked with a shakeyhead and dropshot too, but nothing. At one point we idled around the middle of a creek to see if we could mark any fish on the graph. Found several HUGE schools of fish. Not one of those fish would bite, or really even come to look at your bait. At first I was thinking they might've been gizzard shad, but everytime we dropped the bait down, they wouldn't scatter like gizzard shad do. So I'm thinking they might've been white bass? Not too sure, but I dont think any spots or LM will be schooling this time of the year unless they were after baitfish maybe. Any other fish that school during this time of the year? The fish were coming from the bottom of 40FT of water all the way up to 15FT. That's how big the schools were.
We tried alot of different things, fished alot of areas... nothing at all to show for it.
Oh well, fishing is on and off sometimes. We fished Thursday last week, never got the first bite, then we went Sunday for a couple hours... they were biting well, then today nothing.
I may get out there again this weekend. We have a warming trend here now, hopefully things will pick up nicely. We have plenty of time til the good ol Spring bite.
