Fished right below Strike dam last monday, Trout fishing was pretty good. Two of us fished only about an hour below the dam and caught 3 nice rainbows about 12 14 and 17 inches on worms. After that moved to up above the spill way and caught 2 perch, not very big. Then we tried for sturgeon for a little while right below the bridge. No luck there but saw something that was really disappointing. We noticed something white floating in the middle of the river. I ran up onto that little ridge on the North side of the river below the bridge and could see it was a sturgeon probably about 4 to 5 feet floating down the middle of the river belly up. Saw Fish and Game about 10 minutes later and told him what we saw. Not really much could be done about it but really frustrating to see such a priceless fish in that situation. I'm not sure what happened to it but with how many hooks and gear gets lost below that dam I'm sure it can't be good for the Sturgeon. On that note very glad to see the changes to the regs this year requiring a sliding sinker with a lighter test drop line for sturgeon this year. Hopefully that will reduce the amount of hooks left on the bottom of the river.
