The Showdown digital flasher is a pretty good tool. I can't really compare it to other flashers because I haven't been around them. You can see your jig and bait as long as you have the sensitivity turned up a little and you can actually see the fish going to your bait, but just like other fish finders it's up to you to choose what makes the fish happy.
I did have a problem with it and had to send it back to have it repaired, It took about 2 weeks, but the hard part was trying to get a hold of Versa electronics to get a return authorization number. They wouldn't answer their e mails and the phones were always experiencing heavy call traffic. The best way to get a hold of them is to leave a message on the phone system and hope they call you back, not a good way to run a business, but thats not my call. I got the Showdown back this last week and it works again. Works great when it works though!

I considered getting the showdown, I read a lot of reviews and it seems like a really good unit. I went with the Humminbird ice 45 because I had a gift certificate for Sportsmans I needed to get something they had in stock, out of everything they had in stock I felt the Humminbird was the best bang for the buck. So far I have nothing bad to say about it and it has helped me land some fish I never would have caught without it. I just wish they weren't so expensive and I would get another one so I wouldn't have to share with my Dad [Wink].
