I was at our annual Magic Valley Fiy Fishers Banquet and was blessed to have one a Super Fat Cat - LCS[cool]

2 years ago I bought a FC4 and was all excited about it untill I went out and it did not "fit". I just was not comfortable and thought that was because I had been using a "toon" for so long. I tried 3 trips with the FC4 and it just wasn't working. It felt too short and man the sides just came in I felt like a little cramped.
I was disappointed because I do have some areas up here that the toon is just too difficult to transport and get to the water without a lot of hassle, so I was hoping to have a float tube that I felt good about.
I am in the 300# range and after checking things out I discovered the FC4 was not even rated for my size. Well all that being said, I now have a float tube more my size and I am anxious to give it a test run. I will probably use my strap on pole holders and maybe even my strap on bottomline before I start with the PVC conversion.
We have had too much warm weather here as of late and SFCR has opened up considerably on the edges, so I may get the neopreems out and go skirt the edges in the next couple of weekends.

Way to go! Sounds like it is getting cold for a few days. Ron

Haven't seen haw much water is showing at Salmon so I don't know if this cold spell will be enough to let us get back on the ice again.

Congratulations!!! If SFCR ices back up with this cold snap, you might try it out at Clear Lake or the Filer Ponds, since they don't freeze. The ponds are smaller, but should still be good for a day of tubing. Filer Ponds are a little harder to find; let me know if you need directions.
Also watch the ice if you go out to the edges, and the wind comes up. It is amazing how big of sheets of ice the wind can move, and you don't want to be in its way.

So do you get up in this neck of the desert often? It is interesting how you would know about the Filer Ponds.
I probablywould go to derkies to try to find see if some of the gills there would like to come and play. It's only a few minutes from our home.

[#0000ff]Let me know if you need any help with tricking it out. I have done a few of those.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]And I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised at how well it floats your "abundant" frame.[/#0000ff]

I don't get over that way much anymore. I used to have several conferences and classes there in the Twin Falls area before I retired, so I got to fish there a bit. Plus I am always looking for somewhere not frozen for early fly fishing. Filer and Clear with their springs are some of the few places that I know of that don't freeze over. I have fished Filer, but I haven't fished Clear Lake.
I was thinking that with the cold snap Derkies and others would be icy. Well, at least I hope you folks aren't getting as cold as we are. It is -5 out today. It is going to be sunny, but I am NOT going fishing. Maybe at the end of the week.
I am excited to hear how the SFC works for you. Couldn't have happened to a nicer person!

Congrats on getting something that fits better!
I'm a smaller guy, but I find that comfort is greatly affected by having an inflatable seat compared to the foam. It took me awhile to find the amount of seat air pressure that gives me just the right amount of lumbar and back support for my bad back. If your new tube has an inflatable seat unlike the FC4, and you are still uncomfortable, you might try increasing the air pressure. I am running my ODC at close to maximum seat air pressure, and it has made a lot of difference!

I was at Derkies last Friday and it is frozen. Filer ponds are open and I know that Clear Springs gave the F&G a lot of old brood fish. I know some went in there. My son has went there a couple times but no luck. Ron
