Looking to get a sonar for the tube this spring. Due to the simplicity and (mostly) positive reviews, I've narrowed my search to the Humminbird 110 or 120. Any opinions or experience that anyone has had with either of these would be greatly appreciated. [fishin]
Thanks,
Boz

I got a 110 for my wife and she likes it. I have an older fishin buddy III that I used for years and replaced it last year with a humminbird 565. I let my son use the old buddy and he loves it. I had him attached to my toon and both FF's were on and the old buddy was picking up the fish that I was on the 565. I believe the 120 has a side finder which is great if fly fishing. I loved the side finder on the old buddy.

I have a 120. I bought it because I thought the higher resolution would help, but I find that I'm always in Fish ID mode so I'm not sure it matters that much.

Like a lot of people, I used to not put too much stock in the ability of the unit to correctly ID fish. Recently though, I met a guy that has had a lot of success vertically jigging to fish he marked. I am becoming a believer.

I recommend it. I primarily fish for bass so I don't always use it, but in certain situations, especially now in the wintertime, it comes in really handy.

I never felt like the sidefinder helped me any, so I just keep it shut off now.

I have a 110. It does a good job of marking suspended fish. I don't know about fish holding on the bottom. I don't think it can seperate them well from the bottom. I turn the power all the way up when I use the 110. I can see a 1/64 oz jig on the screen. I like mine very much for my kickboat rig.

I had the 120 for about 3 fishing trips. I believe the one I bought was defective...the sonar would indicated 5-8ft then all of a sudden I would get 160ft indication!
I would have to reset to make it work...battery pack housing/wires seemed a little flimsy....

I bought it last year...maybe the new models are more durable...

overalll accurate for depth..side finder marked fish and distance from boat...cool feature...
