Decided to brave the cold last night and try pineview for some crappie. Fished the narrows for a couple hours and did ok, but caught more bluegill than anything. Had a nice little mixed bag with a couple perch, some small crappies, and some really nice bluegill. The bite was extremely soft and I'd figure I missed twice as many as I caught.

Thanks. The few times I've been up to pv this winter we've managed one or two bluegill but last night they seemed extra hungry. Never could find the bigger crappies though.

That's cool that you got into them at night. It is more common to find crappie feeding at night but I've caught bluegill at night as well. Thanks for the post.

I say night because I was there until after dark. All the fish except for the perch were caught after the sun went down. I tried to release the small crappie but they couldn't seem to find their way back down the hole so I figured I'd keep them rather than feed the muskies

Great looking mixed bag of PV fish! That is awesome when you can catch a few different species each trip. Hope to be up there this Sat....warmer temps, but snow. I think that I;d rather have snow and be warm than cold without

Nice job on the gills. I keep trying to find them at the view but have been unsuccessful so far. I will be trying again on saturday, unless I hear about safe ice on Bear Lake. Did you catch those gills deep?

Yes they were caught in about 40' of water maybe three reels off the bottom.. Small green ice flies tipped with mealworms.

Cool beans! I'd love to know what you were doing right to find nice gills like that in PV. I haven't been this year, yet...but it seems like a lot more crappie are being caught this year...
