Hit DC at noon, did not get any bites til 3PM, took home 5 perch, not a big meal.

The ice was cracking and popping all day, does this usually cause a slow day?

High barometric pressure creates a slow bite, the ice cracking doesn't have much to do with it.

Had some of my best days with popping ice. It just means it's really cold, and the ice is expanding. Fish are used to it.
