Just checked the DWR stocking report

http://wildlife.utah.gov/dwr/fishing/stocking.html

They indicate that they recently planted just over 200 26" lake trout in that little pond. Are these likely to be the old brood fish they harvested eggs from in the hatchery?

Yeah, that's usually the case. There fins will be worn off from being in the cement raceways there whole life, and they look a little mutated Smile But they're fish and fish are fun to catch.

Thanks for the input. If the weather is not snowing in the AM I may take a quick trip to the pond and catch whatever is willing to bite. It would be nice to hook in to a big lake trout, even if it looks funky.

I was there tonight for a little bit, a few bites but that was it. It's mostly covered with thin ice. There's a few open spots open on the north east side but a ton of ducks.

I drove over after work tonight to take a peek. I too noticed the ice, looked thin. I will decide tomorrow morning weather or not to try to fish it.
