I 've caught 6 of those big uglys in the last two days at Roy pond. Here's a couple of pics

The DWR puts a few of the old spawners in the ponds this time of year..

Yea I know they put them in there for the kids mostly, but I sure see alot of adults fishing for them and having a blast doing it. I sure have fun. Also just to clarify I didn't mean to say I myself caught the six over 5 pounds, I meant to say me and my fishing partner Ron caught that many. Just to clear the air. (^_^)

They are put in the ponds for anyone with a license to catch...

Not exactly correct there bassrods.
Kids under 12 can also catch them.
No license needed.[]

Just to let you know all those fish were released. CPR all the way.

I used a 1/8 oz white feather jig on three , A white 1/4 oz mister twister curly tail jig to catch one, and a crome and blue 1/2 oz phobe fish to catch the other. Real slow on the jigs. The fish seem to be right off the shore about 7 to 12 feet out on the bottom. Hope to see you out there on Saturday.
