Hello guys,

I am taking my new 14ft porta-bote out Friday morning for some striper fishing. I can comfortably fit another guy w/ me so I was wondering if anyone wanted to go out. I have a 6hp Suziki to power the boat so the setup is not extravagant by any means. I typically use about a gallon of gas per outting so cost will not be an issue. Provide your own beverages (I'm a bartender so alcohol is fine w/ me) and bait, and expect a full day on the water. I also would like to state that I have never done very well on Mead and am still figuring out how to catch the stripers consistently, so if you have the lake figured out then even better.[fishin]

I also have an old cheap fish finder rigged to the boat, but I am not sure how effective or accurate it is.

I will be bringing my cast net in case the opportunity arises to net some shad, but to be honest I have no idea where to even start looking for the shad.

Any advice on where to fish and or tecniques on catching striper and shad this time of year is greatly appreciated.

[cool]Hey Telbone, Try fishing by the pier at Hemmenway when they plant the trout( about 9:30am). Use trout imitating lures. There are some shad schools in the vegas wash.

Thanks for the advice. I have a passenger now as 4poundonly took me up on the offer to go fishing. I'm almost as excited about meeting a fishing buddy as I am about going out tomorrow. The weather says it should be nice. I'll post a report once I get home.
