Put in at Mudd Creek this morning, water temp was 39. Went out towards the river and started chunk'in a rattle bait. Then a jerk bait, then a spinner bait, nothing. Finally I did catch a dink on a trap. Then I got another about 3 lbs. Caught another dink. I finally worked myself up into an old weed bed and got a 6 1/2 lber.! I thought, Ok, game time! Nope, I went about another hour before I got another bite. I switched to a shallow crank and missed one. Then I went to rotating lures. I'd throw this one for 10 / 15 cast and switch. I did hook another good fish. Had it right at the boat and she came unbuttoned?! I never saw it, but it was a good'in! I moved out a little deeper toward the channel edge and picked up a couple more. By now there are boats everywhere! So I'm just trying to stay out of these BFL guy's way. I spoke to several and asked if they were in the Tx and when they said yes, I gave them the water. They were all nice and said thanks. Then there was this slough that I wanted to try, but I saw there was already 4 or 5 boats in it. So I thought I could go down one side and stay out of the BFL guys way. I got right down the side of these boats and caught a 4 1/2 lber. It got there attention anyway. In about 10 cast, I got a 4 lber. Two cast later I got a 3 1/2. I think some were all upset by now? So I decided to go to the back of the creek to check it out. There was about 10 boats there between the bridges on the flat. I went under neath the second bridge and there was about 15 / 18 boats there! So, I decided to call it a day. Coming out, I see Jmax out there trying to catch my fish! Water then was up to 43 degrees. I threw traps, spinner baits, jerk baits, and a shallow crank. All in the day I caught only 10 fish with 7 of them keepers. Best 5 around 21 / 22 lbs., best three about 15 lbs. I loaded at 2 pm. Sorry, no pics. I had a camera but no one to snap it! See 'ya'll Saturday.
